i just picked up a 318 for my 65 cuda it is from a 1978 motorhome i just realized the oil pan is different. i tried doing some searches but didnt find the info i am needing. what do i have to do to change the oil pan and do i have to change timing cover or anything else. just hoping it will work, i do have a 318 in car that is stuck that i can use for parts.

any help is appreciated
thanks

Post a picture, most likely it has a truck oil pan, also pictures of the timing chain cover.
They did some funky things with motor home motors.

Make sure this is not a "heavy truck" AKA Class A motorhome engine. I believe some of these used the 'uge Ferd style 18mm spark plugs

So far as the pan you need a 318 pass car pan and matching oil pickup.

here are some pics the first number is a 4

Looks like a standard truck motor, change the pan, motor mounts and exhaust manifolds you should be good.

When you have the pan off check the slack in the timing chain, easy to replace now.
Also double check your exhaust manifolds to see if they cover the air holes on the exhaust ports, you might have to drill and tap them for a plug.

What sort of engine you looking for? IF it was me, I'd put a small cam in there, and "plan" on changing the cam drive. "Oregon Cam Regrinders" (who are not in Oregon LOL) can grind you up a little cam fairly reasonable.

Then look on CL for an intake like an RPM or even a stock LA 360 T quad. With duals it will run surprisingly well

it has a edlebrock intake and 4 barrel on it dont know what size it is or even how to tell
