MSD ready to run distributor newbie question

hey all, this is probably going to sound like a stupid question, i dont know much about modified ignition systems, but if i was to purchase a MSD ready to run distributor, (like in the link below), would i still need to get it modified (curved) to suit my engines specs?MSD 8388 Chrysler 318-360, Ready-to-Run Distributor - MSD Performance Products
Any help appreciated thanks.

it comes with springs and advance stops so you tune it yourself..

you can just drop it in and it will run and all. but still needs to be fine tuned to your motor.

Included with the distributor are bushings for the mech. advance and springs to adjust the advance curve. They also give some directions and charts.
