Muffler Testing, etc.

Tom, what do you think a tight fitting glasspack just before the tips would do to quiet down a car? There's not much room between the gas tank and leaf spring on our A-bodies.

Is their anything that will fit in there to help reduce noise. Would chambered pipes do anything?

Steve, if you could get a glasspack in, even one of Walker's race round mufflers, it would take the edge off for sure.

Chambered pipes will do nothing but add restriction and maybe some tone change. You need to soak up the sound, so to speak, to get a lot of it out of the exhaust note.

You could place some glasspacks in the drive shaft tunnel in the front section before they go into the real mufflers. The longer the better! And not louvered ones, but perforated ones to avoid reducing the flow.

Finally put my TTI system on the Dart. 2.5" H pipe, with 18" can Goerlich straight through mufflers.

Not only am I impressed with the fit of the TTI system, which fit very well. Just had to be careful making the cuts, as there are a few that have to be made. The 18" mufflers also sound great. Overall, very satisfied. Pics to follow.
