Anyone ever have any problems with multi fit rims such as cragar SS's?
I have a 69 dart that has been converted to a big bolt pattern, single fits work fine. I bought a set of cragar look alikes and they felt like they were going to fly right off when I put on the brakes.

I don't like them either. If you don't get them perfectly lined up with the washers, you will get a terrible vibration. I used them on a 1941 plymouth coupe I built because it had an 8 3/4 rear but gm front discs so the bolt pattern was different from front to back. I ended up replacing the rotors with Cordoba ones so I could use the correct wheels.

Be sure to use blue locktite when using universal rims, no fun having a wheel come loose.

The biggest problem with them is people use the incorrect lug/washer combination. The oval washer is supposed to sit flush inside the rim and be locked in place by the recess. Either a center hole or offset washer. Not just a plain round washer out of the parts bin!! You use those and someone is going to die or get hurt. The lug has a wider shoulder than normal that helps spread the load over the washer and transfer it to the rim. If everything is put together correctly you will have no problems with these wheels. Just make sure you have the correct parts and the recess is clean.

One ,bring them to a tire shop to test the balancing and check for true straightness.Then you may have to have them machined to your bolt pattern and just opened up a slight amount to increase the lug nut area to help center the wheel.Also get plastic rings made to center the rim on the disc.Mrmopartech

I tried these urin lug things three different times,
back in the late 1970's, early 80's.

Twice was Brand new stuff, At the tire store;
I worked at Sears Auto Center at the time, part time.

I will not even consider these things for free.

What I did see years ago, even in a Mag style,
was Dual pattern rims, those worked well, and are safer.

{The rims had 10 holes, dual pattern, "small" GM, [Camaro, Nova GTO<etc]
and "Normal" Mopar/Ford"}

I never did find any that were "Small Mopar/ Normal Mopar"

Gm had a large and small pattern, Full Sized cars like a 1973 Caprice
and Caddy used the larger sized pattern, as does my 1995,and older
Chevy 3/4 ton Vans, Older cars like a 1967 Impala,and Camaros etc.
used the smaller GM pattern.

Most Mopar "normal" sized rims will work on a Ford,
abut some Ford rims will not work on the front of a disc brake Mopar.

And of course :( Mopar had the Abody 5 lug 4" bolt pattern, which I guess is
better than Fords 4 lug bolt pattern used on 6 cyl Mustangs, Falcons, etc.

{ :wack:

Well I had them put on at Kal Tire and balanced too. They told me my front brakes were shot and I said BS so we all scratched our heads and they gave me my money back. Maybe I'll get some Torq Thrusts and forget the cragars lol
