I don't get it. You say you have a Mustang, and I picture a little hot rod, and you point to an SUV. weren't there any other names available? Like Falcon, Comet, Fairlane, Torino, etc.
I know what all those cars look like. None of the cars you mentioned were great cars, but I know what car you're referring to. You proved my point that when you say a name, a picture pops in your head. Now, which image are people going to see?quick, what does a magnum look like?
or an aspen?
or for that matter, an eclipse?
they do it all the time, it doesn't matter what the car is, it matters what people think off when they hear the name
not quite the same, its been the better part of 5 decades since they made a barracuda but mustangs are rolling off the assembly line as we speakThe concept will sell ( Jeep/Durango SRT) They just shouldn't use the Mustang name. How well would a Cuda SUV sell?
Badging means a lot in the auto world. Remember when Ford dropped the Taurus name and replaced it with the 500. Sales dropped like a rock. Then turned around brought back the Taurus name on the very same car and sales went back up.not quite the same, its been the better part of 5 decades since they made a barracuda but mustangs are rolling off the assembly line as we speak
and ma mopar has repurposed half a dozen models, the aspen, the dart, the magnum, the charger, to name a few
