How did yours turn out?

I have looked over the covers I got back and from what I'm seeing, they look good.

Any issues were on my side. He did a good job for what I paid. I have had other seats that were perfect. My brother had a shop do his Porsche 911 seats. They were custom and probably cost $4K. He expected perfection and he paid for it. I look forward to seeing yours. I paid $400 for labor and repairs to the seats, foam and materials he supplied.

On closer look, one of the seat backs is missing the upper listing wire pocket. Emailed Legendary to find out of they want it back for repair or if they want me to take it somewhere local to have done

Finished up the driver side bucket seat today. Not real satisfied with the few puckers around the medallions but I think most of them will come out with some heat

Still working on the old girl. Finished up engine assembly and it’ll be going to the dyno in a week or so before it’s reinstalled.

Today I also swapped out the green dash pad to a black one. The green one was a reproduction steel core piece but it fit like dog ****. I sent an OE pad to Just Dashes and had them rebuild it. Fits and looks great.

I also took advantage of the dash being disassembled to swap out my radio and heater control back-lighting. I swapped the white leds out for green ones to match my new gauges that will be going in.

I’ve got a bit to go on modifying the bezel before it’s ready for install.

Last night I finally got the fuel pump fittings in the mail and installed. Installed the harmonic balancer and test fit the new gauge setup. I am in contact with Vacuum Orna-Metal about having them refinish the chrome and black areas on the bezel. Hoping I can get that done quickly or it might have to wait until the end of the season. I really don't want to take the gauges apart this fall if I can avoid it.

The NVU gauges look pretty nice but there are some things about their kit that need improvement.

The OE cluster relies on tabs on the metal housing to secure the lower 3 screws to the dash. With the NVU kit, you’re supposed to just use large screws along the bottom. These bezels are pretty fragile after 50 years and I just don’t trust the screws not to break the bezel.

I ended up cutting the lower section with the tabs and then fastened it to the cluster. One of the screw mounts had to be cut from the cluster and moved so there would be clearance for the wiper switch. Also, I had to notch the headlamp switch to get it to fit

I bought a twelve conductor connector for this install. I plan to make an adapter for ease of swapping back to factory gauges down the road.

The wiper and headlight switch are installed a little different in this insert than the oe setup. I didn’t like how it looked unfinished. I did some googling and saw that 66-67 b-bodies had a nice bezel for each switch. I think the bezels make it look much more finished. There is an overlay that covers up the screws and I plan to put some walnut vinyl wrap over that to match the other two dash trim pieces.

The a-body cluster has “lights” and “wipers” molded into the plastic above each respective switch. Those are covered up by the NVU insert. So, I also ordered the 66-7 b-body knobs for both switches. I’ve got the wiper knob but the headlight knob Isn’t here yet. These knobs say lights and wipers on the knobs themselves. I think they will look nice.

I got a connector from an 80's ram charger. It fits right on the a-body cluster. What I like about this one is, it has locking terminals in the connectors. My OE connector has slits on the side and the wires are loose and freely slide in the connector body. So this just feels more stable. I de-pinned the connector to look at the terminals. They've got tabs to keep pressure on the pin that's it's connected to. I will likely use this connector for my adapter harness. I'd love to find what these connectors are get my hands on some. So if any of you know where to find these connectors, please let me know.

Here is the Ramcharger terminal beside the terminal from my '72.

Finished up my cluster and harness wiring today. Now I wait to see how quick I get my bezel back from vacuum orna-metal. Also made my adapter harness for future use.
