Well, this has been a long time coming. I pretty much grew up around this car and have always wanted it and I finally got my wish. Here are some pictures of her all loaded and ready to go home with me. I know it seems like it is in bad shape, but most of it is surface rust. I plan to do a full restoration and paint it B5 True Blue Poly with all the decals. I will be posting pics of my progress. I just joined this site recently and it has helped me tremendously so far, so thanks again in advance for the help!

Here is an update for todays progress. I removed the bench seat, rear seats, carpet and cleaned up. The floor pan is in pretty good shape, just some minor surface rust and a nice hole in the hump where my shifter came through. I plan to install a 4 speed tunnel hump to fix that issue. This car was originally and Auto and was converted to a 4 speed so it looks like a hole was just punched through. More to follow on the progress...

Here are some pictures of the dash removal. I needed to pull the windshield anyway due to a leaking seal, so I figured this was a perfect time.

Well, the teardown process is still going well. I was actually able to bust some rust and lay some piss can primer on it. Speaking of which, I have some questions in regards to ordering paint, primer, etc...I have looked at alot of the websites you guys recommend on here and the process seems confusing. There are too many types of paint. I am looking to shoot single stage acrylic enamel vice the base clear. I plan to shoot the gun primer as well, vice the piss can, but are certain primers compatible with certain paints? Looking at how much body work I am facing, I would like to use a high-build primer to even out the little imperfections. Any thoughts? I wish that I could just order a kit that has everything! Here are some progress pics.

you need to stay with compatable material. Like a good urethane base primer and a urethane based top coat. Either a base coat clearcoat or a single stage urethane top coat. Don't mix laquers and urethane. My 2 cents
Matt

Thanks Matt. I just ordered the primer today and did some pricing for the paint. I ordered the MAXX Fill 2K Urethane High Build Primer kit. As far as paint goes, I am ordering through TCP(http://www.tcpglobal.com/). I am going to my Dad's this weekend and he lives right down the street from them. I am ordering TCP-EU-2306 (equivelant to B5 Blue), the Hod Rod Flatz Black for the hood, and some grease and wax remover for prep. All items listed above are kits and is going to come out to $220. I am saving a bunch in shipping since I am picking it up from the store. Now I just need to finish up the bodywork! Thanks for the help once again!

Here are some more progress pictures of the bodywork. The trunklid and left rear quarter panels are rust free now!

I only shot that piss can stuff on there for now to identify the high and low spots to smooth out. Once I get this body all smooth, I plan to sand it all off and shoot the high build urethane gun primer. Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that etching primer was for new metal that has never been treated? Yes, this has been taken down to bare metal, but it was treated with the last time it was painted so is it required again? Please let me know before I shoot the REAL primer. Thanks for looking out on that one!

Here are some more pics of the progress.
