My 71 Duster Project

Great attention to detail there !! Great looking car !!

Thank you all, it is good to be back at it! No progress today, I have been helping one of my buddies work on his roadrunner resto. Today we pulled the tranny and I am rebuilding it for him. I will keep you all updated on the progress of mine as I get back to it.

Hi Ken,

just finished reading the whole thread, nice job!

I started my Duster last summer (http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=283464),
mainly I've been collecting missing parts so far. I'll have to post an update
soon, especially now inspired again by your thread :)

Is it really so that you have used only DA sander and
needle gun for rust and paint removal? I've used a lot sand blasting
in my previous project (67 Sport Fury) and really hate the sand going
all over the place. I have the DA sander as well, but have not
used it too much. Perhaps I need to get that needle gun too.
Is there some special method using those, e.g. first with needle
gun and then smooth out with some certain grit with the sander or something?

thanks,

JP

I always like cruisin' your thread.....you detail your progress well and without the sugarcoat.

nice job all the way thru Master Chief.

Thank you and I am glad that my restoration was able to light a fire! Let me know if you need any help or have questions for your build. Yes, I mostly used a DA sander for all the body work and rust removal. Once everything was done I used foam blocks from Eastwood to do the final sanding. I only used the needle gun on the floor pan and undercoating and then hand sanded everything after the needle gun work was done. I did not have access to a sand blaster otherwise I would have went that route. Hope that helps. I will check out the thread a little later!

I finished all of the 1/2 lines today, removed the old deadhead regulator and got the new return style regulator installed. All that is left to do now is bend and make all the 1/2" fuel hard line and 3/8 return fuel hard lines. I will probably start all of that on Sunday so I will post more pics then. Enjoy.

My buddy Zach came by yesterday and helped me bend up the hard lines for the fuel system. All I need to do now is flare and clamp everything up and she should be ready for fuel again. In return I am rebuilding two of his A-833 trannys. One for his Dart and one for his Uncles Roadrunner. It has been fun!

Been a while since I've been around....awesome progress on the car, Ken! So glad to hear you finally got to drive it. Seems like a pipe dream to me, still.
