hello...i am not super computer savvy at all...my dingbat brother's girlfriend was looking up a bunch of crap today, and she downloads junk all the time that i find myself deleting often. so when she was done using it, (and knowing that she messed up my computer with a virus) she just shuts off my computer and leaves, not telling me that she did something wrong, now my computer is acting up all crazy. i have this security warning that says:

"application cannot be executed. the file yada yada yada is infected. do you want to activate your software now?"

obviously when i click "yes" a window comes up and its a porno site...i cant even go to the "add or remove programs" folder, because the above message comes up... and i also cant even right click, that message comes up as well..

any thoughts on how to fix this? i have AVG Free anti software thats supposed to be pretty good, but i cant even access it. the message comes up....

sounds like you got Anti-virus 2009 or 2910, download, Malwarebites form download.com, the free one, it may take it out, if it don't you are in real trouble,
but first try a restore, if that don't work try to run a recovery, after you run Malwarebites last but not least wipe and re-install windows, feel free to PM me.

how do i restore or run a recovery? i dont have the reset disc that came with my computer...do i have to have the disc?

ok. i found system restore in the control panel, i cant even click on it, that message comes up again...lol, yea its a tuff virus...lol

try restore before you try recover and run the Malware before you try recover

ok. i downloaded malware, and installed it. i clicked on the melware icon on my desktop, and it wont let me open it....how do i start my computer in safe mode?

1. Turn off system restore. You can right click "my computer" -> go to "properties" and find the tab that says system restore. We do this so the virus doesn't come back after reboot. Don't forget to turn it back on once the virus is removed.

Restart the computer. go into safe mode. You hit f8 very quickly at start up. do safe mode with networking. (this will start only system critical processes and not anything extra. you should be able to run your antivirus from there if it wasn't corrupted)

I suggest also before you do those things you go to google and download spybot - search and destroy

also

adware

both don't take away viruses, but take away spyware (the **** popups)

Between the two programs and the virus scanner you should be able to remove everything.

Just to be safe, since you already clicked ok for something unknown I would also go to add/remove programs in the control panel and remove any programs you don't need or the one you OK'ed earlier if it is there.

Once you finish... reboot the computer run the scans again in regular mode. If all is clean, and you have no more popups... put on the system restore (refer to step one). If you still have popups after that, I would suggest taking it to the shop and wiping it clean.

I do this for a living and get 125 an hour in NYC.. so just be careful that you dont delete what you don't know. Best advice I can give you is if you find a file name you are not familiar with google it and learn what it is before you go deleting anything.

You got a virus from you brothers girlfriend.=D> Sorry, I couldn't resist. I hope you get your computer fixed soon and we need an update on your dart.

Time to put a lock on your pc man. If she's that dumb don't let her use it ever not even to check her email, if your brother gets pissed tell him that next time he can fix it.

I was running Avast free program ...... and still got that. Twice. I removed Avast and with the help of '70GT' stuck AVG and Malwarebytes on and have not had a problem since.... knock on wood.... I am informed that you can pick up that malware from soooo many locations. Best thing to do is if something pops up... dont click anything !!!! shut computer off. That saved me the last time before I loaded the other stuff.

hello my friends! i am back! early this morning i had my friend come over, (who actually works for the geek squad) and he fixed my computer, by putting a disc in, and restarting everything...thats all i can say, as it's supposedly "top secret" according to geek squad people...anyways, im back and my computer is fixed!!! thanks to all who tried to help me :)
