My Duster Adventures

Truthfully, that would be an absolute blast.
Someday when I'm semi retired or at least self employed, I'd love to do different stuff like that! Go help people on projects, whether that be car related, renovation or even clean up.

Exactly! Put me up and feed me and let's have some fun building something.

Even now (unretired), I could see doing things like that. Fly out on a Friday night and home Sunday evening, assuming a day or day and a half is enough. For special occasions, a day or 2 of vacation might even be possible. It's the flight that kills it for me, not asking someone else to pay it and don't have room in my budget.

Unfortunately for me, independently wealthy means I am independent of wealth. Outside of my wife and family, I am rich there, but that doesn't buy a plane ticket. :)

LOL I love that definition of "independently wealthy"!!

I'm in the same boat as you. Wife and family, I'm richer than I ever could've imagined. Net Worth, I'm far better off than I ever expected to be at this point in my life but as far as available, spendable money, things are a little tighter than I'd like.

I’ve been working on the Duster fairly consistently but haven’t really completed anything yet, so I haven’t posted any more videos yet. However, here’s a picture to tease y’all a little as to what all I’m doing in the engine bay.

Nice!

I literally have a set of trailer fenders to do the exact same thing to mine, one of these winters I've gotta do that and paint the engine bay.
that'll be going low then to need those inner fender bulges. air bags maybe?
neil.

You can get low enough even with torsion bars to need them. A 2" drop and 26" tires pretty much puts the tires at the inner fenders at full compression if you re-center your bump stops and have additional clearance in the lower control arms. My 275/35/18's just touch at full compression, and I've got 1.12" bars and QA1 LCA's (add about 1" of compression travel).

My initial plan was to use trailer fenders but I picked up a set of 4 wheel dollies without casters on fb marketplace for $30. They're a bit overkill on thickness (1/8") but it was cheaper than buying a trailer fender and the added thickness made them easier to weld in as well. I'll also tie the shock tower in to the "mini tubs" as well as the J-bars that I plan on installing, so the added thickness will only help as far as adding structural rigidity.

Hey @moparmat2000 you remember that Dillinger radiator support I bought from you back in 2016? Yeah, I finally installed that thing tonight…

:wtf:

Uploaded a new video on YouTube. Got some more welding/modifying done in the engine bay as well as made myself a partially recessed battery box for the trunk.
