It's not just pretty. It's very pretty.
Look what a pain it is to commute on a bike in the middle of winter in California. We have to squeeze between cars and keep moving otherwise the engine will overheat. It's called lanesplitting, you east coast people just wouldn't understand the struggle.

Thanks Jim, but that's one reason why I moved away from Winnipeg! We don't often get that much here, then the Chinook winds come along and it all melts away!

Well it’s 40 below and I don’t give a f… gotta heater in my truck and we’re off to the rodeo. Snow bring it on don’t have to be anywhere at any certain time. Got snowmobiles if we need supplies. Wood shed for shop is full. Yard work is done. Garden harvested and tilled. I’m ready let’er rip

Hwy 1 South of SF.

Hwy 1 North of SF (the not so twisty part).

It gets nice after Bodega Bay (Alfred Hitchcock's Birds town). Hang a right here, and take Old Skaggs Springs Road to Geyserville, take 128 down 128 to Calistoga, jump over to Silverado Trail, and go south to Napa.

Nice maps but if you're stuck in traffic like your original post, you need to pick routes where you can actually ride. If you're out of traffic, then sweet. If not, I can post Google maps too.
