This reminds me of the time I was running a mine and plant that loaded stone on Great Lakes freighters and we had our own loadout and dock on Lake Huron. The dock was showing signs of failure and we suspected there might be some holes in the sheet piling. I invited the local high schools robotic team to bring their homemade underwater ROV out to video the suspected areas. This high school senior arrives at a mine site in shorts, T-shirt and tennis shoes with no socks to run the ROV and it was -20 degrees Fahrenheit, (Wind Chill to -40) and three foot of snow on the dock. I sent him back to the school wondering what are we teaching kids these days?

Kind of sad, really.
They can grasp how to build complex electro-mechanical mechanisms that can function under all kinds of adverse conditions, but no clue what their own body needs to function or even survive out in the elements...
