Johnny Bower, the goalie for the Leafs in the 60's didn't wear a mask just the pads. Many times he'd get hurt and skate off for a short while then back on the ice.
He would take a puck in the head. Skate off and get stitched up and back on the ice.
He was one tough SOB and a great goalie.
Seems today if they get a hangnail they're off for several games.
I don't watch the game and haven't since it was only the great six.
