name that brake fitting.

I got a stumper here for you guys. I have a brake fitting that came off of my front wheel cylinders. I can not find a replacement in the parts stores for it. It appears to be a bubble flare fitting and the threads are metric. The problem I am having with it is that the nut portion of it is extended to get a wrench on it to tighten it. What have you guys done to replace this fitting? Thanks for the help.

I am in the process of replacing all of the brake lines on my 1972 dodge dart swinger. This is the fitting that attaches the brake line to the front wheel cylinders. The nut portion of it is close to an inch long. What have you guys used to replace the lines that go from the rubber hose to the wheel cylinder?
 
who know what someone cranked into there....its NOT stock whatever it is.

Steel lines mate to hoses at the frame rail. Hoses have steel ends that thread into the wheel cylinder. see any parts book. at the highest point of the WC, is a port for the bleeder screw....which this might be.

Maybe someone F'ed up the inlet port and tried to get fluid into the WC through the bleeder port.....using some home made bodge?
 
My car has the factory drum brakes all around. Single barrel 318 for an engine and an automatic transmission.

The hoses screw directly into the wheel cylinders. There are no steel lines at the wheel. The hoses go to the frame, a small bracket, and anchor there, where the steel line threads directly into the hose. That last fitting is U.S. "inverted flare."

"Long nuts"........many replacement steel lines have a short nut on one end, and a long nut on the other. I have never figured out why, because I've never seen a factory fitting that needed a long nut

More like "name the crummy camera that took the pictures". You got any GOOD pictures?

Clean all that crud off the fitting and make sure there isn't a separation place there.

Looks like that should unscrew if I found a picture of the correct piece. That would also account for why the threads are weird since this is a special filling and threaded to stop you from screwing the line directly to the wheel cylinder.

Just buy a piece of line 3/16 x12 and bent it accordingly , the fittings are on it , inverted nuts . 1972 would not have anything metric on it.
 
It's the jumper tube for sure. Now that I know what it is I just need to find out what fittings are on it. The old one had a double flare on one end and this weird bubble flare on the other end.
 
I am looking for the fitting that oklacarcollecto posted. And he a also posed a picture of the setup that I have above.
