So I'm holding my old engine bay wiring harness and I know there's got to be an easy way to get power back to my taillights. I yanked my harness out years ago and hot wired the car to drive it (see picture) but, I need those taillights to avoid pricey CA tickets. Now, I havnt touched the wiring behind the dash, only the engine bay. I'm thinking I just need power to the ignition switch but, i could be completely wrong. (I installed a push button so I'm not currently using the ignition. So basically what I'm asking is which wire(s) do I need to reinstall from the original harness to get power back there?

If you have the stuff under the dash "factory" that's what you need. The rear harness connects in the left kick panel. Tail goes throu there

Brake switch goes INTO the turn signal switch. Left and right REAR turn wires come OUT of the TS switch, go to the kick panel connector, and then back to the lights

In other words if the harness is intact, the trouble is inside the car, not in the engine bay

Ok, I see the brake switch leading into the turn signal and I see the left kick panel. Everything is still intact there but, I don't have any power going to the original wiring. The 3 bulkhead connectors in the engine bay are disconnected. I couldn't imagine one of these would be a power wire.(see pic)

Well you need a diagram and or service manual. What are we working on?

You can down load free factory manuals here

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?p=1970088617

and some of the same and more here:

http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=31

Also on the MyMopar page here, you can download non factory somewhat simplified wiring diagrams. These are sometimes incorrect, simplified, and don't always show all connectors and or options, but they CAN sometimes be easier to follow:

However, it "might be" (probably is) that your wiring is somewhat chopped up. If so, it's anybody's guess. You CAN however, go right to major points, that is, go to the brake light switch, see if it has power. Depending on the year, there is a couple of things going INTO the column TS switch

brake light switch the switched side

power coming from the main TS flasher

These wires are likely to be original colors, even if chopped up, so you can check things there
