I am in the process of finishing up our 71 Dart project. The car came with new covers on very old and worn out foam. I purchased new foam but it does not fit the seats that I have. The new foam has a narrower center section vs the old ones. This was originally a bench seat car that someone already installed these buckets in. I have had the new foam for a couple years. Can anyone tell what seats these are and what foam I would need?

The 70 and probably 71 dart seats have a wider listing wire spacing from the E body seats making the foams different. The old foams look like A body. I don’t know about B body.

I’ll get a pic of the back and side when I get back in town from work. I am pretty sure the foam was purchased for a 71 a body, I’ll confirm that too. I went on legendary’s website and the pic they show for the foam looks like what I have. If the seats are correct, not sure why the foam is so off.

The last time I talked to Legendary they didn’t make 70/71 foams.

The reason I ask, is the 70 bucket had 2 pot metal hinge covers per seat, plus the seat back. 71 and up the seat back/hinge covers is all one piece. This will help us narrow it down to year.

Last time I looked these were the only correct 70/71 foams as far as I could tell

Those definitely look like the ones I need. They also look different from what classic industries and legendary show on there website.

Also, see in the above it states the foam is for A and B Body.

That's why I thought the Superbee seats were similar.

you can probably modify what you have for success

the foams are usually stuck onto hessian backing
if you peel out the middle and the edges of the side bolsters and re glue with a wider middle foam,
the trenches for the listing wire will be in the right place
you will have to fight the edge bolsters of the seat when fitting the cover
BUT
You were gonna have to do that anyway the seat foams are huge in comparison to the actual volume of the cover....

horrible job, but you only have to do it twice...

i used garden wire to draw down the listings to the hessian back and springs for hog ringing
then i did the top bottom and sides when i knew the centre section of each was centered and that order gave me access to get an arm in to pull up the sides of the centre section so it wasn't low in places around the seat contour... the bolster side of the listing can look after itself

marking centres of everything with a sharpie certainly helped

yep, PG Classic foams under my black and silver Legendary covers...

The new PG classics foam isn’t right either. Have to modify to make them work. Attached are pics of the seats if anyone can help identify if they are not a body.
