Need help on Power steering lock pin

OK, so I am getting very close on being able to take my sons project car out for a test drive, but we cant find the lock pin that holds the steering shaft to the PS gear. Is the pin a normal size I can get at a hardware store??..or do I need to order one from a parts supplier?

If you are refering to the split pin that goes through the box coupling...
common 5/16 dia split pin, hardware store. I cant remember if it's 1.25 or 1.5 long.
