Ok, first off I'm new to doing metalwork, and after getting the car back from the sandblasters the roof had a very bad oil canning, I was able to shrink the area with the torch/hammer and dolly, but now the surface has some high and low spots and before I proceed I was wanting to get some feedback on what I should do. I was thinking to use a serrated shrinking hammer with hammer off the dolly technique. What do you guys suggest? It's going to be covered up by the vinyl top so it doesn't have to be perfect just close for Bondo.
Not really my area of experience or skill but...
See if your library has Robert L. Sargent. Automotive Sheet Metal Repair
Its an older book that seems pretty good for how to approach and develop your own answers for questions like this.
I picked my copy up at a used book store and it has way more in depth than SA and even HP books that I own or have looked at.
@Ddaddy may have some insights into prepping the surface for a vynil top.
