Need new tire(s)

I have a 1972 dart swinger slant six, all stock, with p185/75r14 tires on rallies. Cords come apart in one. What size would look a little better then these little ones, that still fit ?? Plan to put my 340 in it next year or so. Thanks, Mark.
 
I have 205/70 -14 on my 72 in my avatar. The rear in that pic is 215/70-14. I think they look ok and don't have to break the bank....now with 340 power IDK.

I run 205/70R/14 on the front, 225/70/R14 on the back

235/60 will fit in the rear without issue. 225's will fit in the front.
 
Thanks guys, not many around. Rockodart, do you mean 225/60? (Post 4&5) BFG seems to be only ones, but expensive!! Thanks all, Mark.
 
I went with 205/70 14 Michelins from Costco.
I think the newer technology tread and rubber compounds more than makeup for the narrower tread width compared to old school BFGs...
And they ride better and way better wet traction !

Cooper Cobra Radial GT (Tire Rack, Discount Tire, Summit), Futura GLS SS (Pep Boys), Mastercraft Avenger (Summit), BFG Radial T/A (Tire Rack). No Mickey's in 14".

Out of the four, I'd pick the Cooper on price. Next the T/A on history.

Might consider going to a 15 or 17 to get better tire selection.
 
I have P195/75R14 on the front and P215/75R14 on the rear. 14" X 5 1/2" SBP Rallyes on all 4 corners.

I have 225x60 14 on front of my 72 scamp disc brakes Don't think 235s would fit. Back is 245x60 14s- lot of room- 255x60s would work for sure- if you can find
14 inch rallyes and 7 1/4 rear

went with p225/70r14 coopers, look better i think.

Great thread. I too am in need of tires and am wondering about the idea of slightly wider, and also possibly the idea of different sized on the back, like some of you have posted. I have the 66 slanted dart sedan, SBP, 14in. Currently have 205/75r14, Hankook Optimo H724. I just have steel wheels with dog dish. What size combination could I do? And what do I gain by a wider rear wheel, and a narrower front wheel? Besides the awesome look.

Michelin is the only tire that says their tires can be used for 10 years, all others say replace after 5 years regardless of the wear & condition.
So for a car that might not get driven a lot Michelin might be a better choice.
