Need to replace a 90s non-working radio '73 Dart Sport

I have a 90s 2 shaft stereo that I need to replace with a Kenwood NOS stereo. Car has bucket seats with a console and AC.

I am assuming that I need to remove the gearshift nob in neutral and drop the AC vents and I should be able to get the back of stereo for removal.

Is there anything that I am missing or that I should be aware of?
