Needing help: 360 won't stay running

Looking for assistance. The 360 will crank and turn over, fires up, but only stays running for as long as I'm holding the key to the start position. As soon as I release it, it dies and it almost sounds like the starter is whining down.

I'm clueless... Any ideas?

Ignition ballast resistor is broken/burned internally.
Temporarly bypass the 2 sides of the resistor with a wire and try again.

As BBM said above, ballast resistor on the firewall. Pull the wires off and put a jumper wire in the 2 plugs, if it starts and runs, replace said resistor.

Back in the day used to keep 2 in my glove box at all times. One for me & one for friends broke down on the road...

It’s a problem as old as these cars themselves!

Some newer ignition controller boxes allow you to just slap a jumper wire in there and leave it but it seems like this deprives us of a genuine Mopar experience

As has been said, buy two. Any self respecting Mopar owner has one or two in the glove box. Lol
