I just finished installing the motor and trans in my car, and as I was putting the torque converter in I noticed that It has a little weight on it, its not very thick and its about 1.5 inches long. It came off of my old 318 which are internally balanced, and therefore a neutral balanced converter (I think..).

I put in a B&M flexplate for the 360 and i'm using the correct harmonic balancer. But is this little weight on the converter to make it neutral balanced? or not.

where is the weight on the converter...on the face or on the outside of the converter...

some converters need a small weight to balance them....and is not a weight for the externally balanced crank..

I just found this image and its in the exact same place as it in the picture. So the weight faces the trans and is on the outside.

that is a weight for the converter balancing...not the engine

the engine weights are on the face of the converter or same side as the mounting lugs..

Okay thats good to know, I kinda figured it, just want to be sure!
