I took rebuilt the bottom end of the 340, low oil pressure problem,, went from 15 psi at idle to 60 psi,, Along with that took the 484 purple cam out and replaced it with a Howards Cams 470/275, 108/104, 221*@50 duration. Also replaced the single plane intake with a dual plane air gap. Car runs great. Idles perfect and a joy to drive. Miss the idle chop though. Power on the bottom end is noticeably better.

Sounds like you accomplished your goal of a nice running small block. Congrats :thumleft:.

How does it run, that cam specs look great.
Howards makes nice cams.

I bet $$ the gas milage will pick up now.
Plus the car will be more driveable.

Hey that sounds great i'm looking at putting that cam in my 360. What's your compression on that 340? And what RPM does it run out of breath?

Sounds like a great street cam. Have any video? I'd love to hear that one. tmm

Compression is 10.5, tops out at 5,800

Sounds good my 360 has around the same compression, I wonder how much the power band would be lowered from the longer stroke though...?

I also would like to hear it run if you can get a video up
