hello, I just got a Travco 1972 dodge camper with manual transmission and a slant 6 engine, 157k miles. I’m sure I will have tons of questions so thank you in advance!

The idea is to bring the mechanical part to mint condition while using new technology for all the camper side (electric mainly.)

Snd since I am here, how do i identify the exact type of slant 6 I got and who is a good parts provider?

very cool to have this forum, thanks!

That is a big vehicle for a 225.

...but I have seen heavy dump trucks with them.

Can it go over 45 MPH?

I am on a trip, I will be back home on Oct 30th and pick it up. will send pics and -if possible- will report max speeds.

Watch out for sonic booms! lol

Thank you.
Best, j0

LOL We had one of those long trains, had been a church bus and I had it 1 or 2 years for my service van.

You have to watch weight distribution. It is easy to get too much in the rear, and cause skidding of the front tires in snow or rainy weather. I built the bulkhead between the seats and cargo area, the ladder rack, and a "hitch receiver" style mount for the vise. It pulls out, and you can sub a pipe vise for threading. The black bracket between the doors is to support a long pipe when threading. AND IT WAS a leaning tower of power!!! Cruise control? You just put your foot to the floor and LEAVE it there!!

Welcome.
When I had my 1st job we had a extended Dodge Van 225 3 on tree non synchronized transmission.
We would load it up. And was only time we used 1st. It would pull any load. I think the saying Going Nowere Fast was invented the a guy who worked at Crystler who thought it was a good idea to offer that combination as an option
My 340 was a rocket after driving the Van.
