After machine shop has had my heads for a few weeks he calls me today saying he's having trouble finding factory type 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves. They are out of stock on a bunch of sites I'vre tried so far. So what are you all doing as an alternative or am I looking in the wrong place. I would like to keep the 4 ring retainer slots if at all possible. Should I put a wanted add here and/or should I try to find NOS somewhere?

Call northern auto parts. Their website isn’t that good, just have to call, but they usually have all the factory replacement parts. Ive had really good service and they always had what I needed

You are in there. Convert that thing to 11/32 stem valves and never look back.

The cost is a bit more because you need locks and retainers but it’s not that much.

I don’t care for multiple groove locks.

My preference is to always get away from the multi-groove valves.

Going to 11/32 stem valves is a good way to gain some badly needed installed height, which opens the door to a greater spring selection.

Maybe this will be the week I get my heads back. Shop got the new valves but is waiting on guides but other than that he has everythng to complete the work. Hopefully anyways. Day after XMAS I drop my 08 Charger off to have a front subframe installed since mine is rotting away. I'm off the week between xmas and new years so it would be fantastic to get the heads back and assemble my car finally.

I finally got my heads back late last week and took advantage of my time off from work and got my car back together. I must be getting good at this cause after priming engine with fresh oil and distributor install she fired up with like one turn of the engine. Sounded great and ran it long enough to put a timing light on and set the timing. I do have a couple of things to check like the passenger exhaust manifold to head pipe connection and also I'm pretty sure while struggling to get the drivers side exhaust connected I must have disconnected the linkage for the reverse lockout cause I'm pretty sure I was able to remove the keys from the ignition without putting the car in reverse. I need to get another gallon of antifreeze and won't be using the old stuff I did save. This winter project definitely worked out and went way over my budget but except for the head work I did it all myself.
