Yup, remember that as well. Plastic model kits were about 5.00 and now they are about 40.00?????

I think by then they had come out with the lemon smelling glue that didn't work.

That stuff was useless.
I was ten years old in 1969- squarely in Hot Wheels' target market when they made their debut, and I remember $1 cars. That's about $9 in today's money, so getting a new car was kind of a big deal. I also remember $2.50 model kits and 15c Testor's paint.

Yup, born in 1959 so I remember those prices as well. Going through some of my older stuff and found a bottle of testers paint at .25 cents from TG&Y. Lol

Yep, .19 cents for the bottles and .59 cents for a spray can. Model kits were $2.00,

Those M2 are really nice, and at 6 bucks at walmart, I bought a few, and wanted several more. But $10 is a bit out of line, imo. I'd really have to want one bad, to spend that.
I've been happier spending a buck occasionally for hot wheels instead.

My Mother used to work the lunch counter at Kresge's.
All the stuff that i just left behind, and never went back for, when i joined the Air Force.
Aurrora Road Racing sets, American Flyer Trains of all kinds, Estes model rockets.
If i still had this stuff as an old man I'd be "In Like Flint" (Remember that movie?)

have sold all the models twice and traded once, started over again. selling Aurora HO stuff and keeping Tyco, selling Lionel and most of Dad's HO stuff, sorting thru Hot Wheels, Matchbox and Tonkas. If I sell enough, maybe I can get a 1:1 scale car running!
S.S. Kresge was the store in that we waited in front of in Downtown, Waterbury, Connecticut to be picked up, taking us to high school for the 2nd half of the ride.
