Hey fella's,

I am completely rebuilding my 318, I went to put the rings on the pistons today and realized I may not have put the rings back in there correct slots in the box they came in after I gapped em, I gapped both sets of compression rings then put them back in the box I had no clue the box labels which grove the rings go in.

The rings are labeled "E TOP" and just "TOP" I need to know which one is the top compression ring and which is the bottom compression ring.

"E TOP" has the bevel on the same side as the label-"E TOP"

"TOP" has the bevel on the underside of the label-"TOP"

Which one is which? I read that one bevel should face to top of the piston and the other should face the bottom, also what would be a good way to install th piston rings with out off setting em?

Thank's
Shawn.

Who's rings and what type are they? I always set the gaps on them, and leave then in the bores until they go on the pistons...

I used the Total Seal standard type rings (not gapless) and the bevel on the top ring faced up and the bevel on the second ring faced down.
