NEW SLANT 6 OWNER NEED HELP

napa gold is no longer made by wix.
Yeah. And not by Donaldson, either. Now they're made by a Chinese outfit called Premium Guard. You can see an interesting coupla videos here and here. In the first video, a shop owner raises eyebrows and objections to the switch. In the second video, he recants and says he was contacted by NAPA and they educated him, you see, about how the Premium Guard filters meet all NAPA specifications so there is no reason to object to them. No reason at all. None.

Maybe the Chinese filters are awesome. Or maybe he's leaving out the part where he got threatened and/or bribed and/or ???? between the first and second videos.

Interesting, thank you. my NAPA rep is who told me they were made by Donaldson. I’ll have to go back and question him again.

Ok. I deleted a few posts im sure it seems minor to some of you.
However if you start talking Tarriffs and other countries. Then the complaints roll in.
Good topic just leave what some see as politics out.:thankyou:
Thanks. Many apologies if I contributed. Sometimes it's easier to get off track than you realize.

model year 1975 cars are exempt from emissions in california.

i don't think anything came with cats until 77 or 78, but some of the other stuff would've been on there from the factory. this day in age though, if it's exempt then the stuff is already adios'd.

my '76 duster slant6, A833OD had a converter from the factory, but no air pump, federal emissions, though, YMMV for cali emissions.

I stick with Purolator or Wix filters for oil filters. and usually use Valvoline 10-30 conventional in my car.

if it's sat for a long while, you might want to go through and do a basic tune up to it: plugs, wires, cap, rotor, maybe a new coil, maybe a new ignition box....the Napa or Standard Motor products are the only "parts store" ignition boxes I'd look at. the new Standard Motor Products one I put on my car runs a lot smoother than the 33 year old orange box that was on it....

probably could also stand to have the valve adjustment checked, and the carb at least cleaned out, if not rebuilt with new gaskets

It depends on how they could control hydrocarbons
Some cars didn't need them even after 78
Honda cvcc was one....

Thought I’d share. I’m doing an oil change on our RAM Rebel 5.7 and had an old filter in stock, so I ordered a new filter to compare. They are very different and the packaging is as well.

WIX went global about ten or so years ago. Some of yall continue to tout that WIX is still made in USA. Might wanna look at the preceding post. ^^^^^

Yeah. Global means all over the place. You might get USA and you might not. But how many different languages do they need to put it in? I grabbed a pack of doodoo paper at the grocery store and there were......and I'm not kiddin THIRTEEN different languages on the back. I'm like "WTF, it's doodoo paper".

I use mann on a lot of euros
The red gasket makes me think of fram or china

Very interestingly, they both have different SKU numbers.

If they're the same product, one wonders why the company needs to keep track of them separately.

Right. I was wonderin the same. When something has a different SKU, it's a different product. I ain't believin otherwise. Good catch.

Agree. I would be surprised if the old wix napa gold is even still available. I have inventory of my own for the trucks I maintain and have had that older sku number in that inventory for at least a year.
