Up for sale is a new SUN Tach model # ST-502 from what I understand this tach need's a SST-801 box to opperate which I do not have. Look at the pictures this is the tach you will receive. $100.00 plus shipping from Michigan and if paying with PayPal please pick up the PayPal fees.

Halifaxhops, any idea if the tach signal wire from a MSD 6AL would work in place of the Sun sending unit?

It "won't". The Sun tach here is a "head' it is just a meter, which amounts to an analog milliameter. The Sun sender originally was a precision relay and mercury battery affair that took coil pulses and generated "precision" DC pulses to send to the head/ meter. If you were into electronics you could probably design an electronic tach circuit board to drive the meter. This meter/ head is in effect the same/ similar to the early Cuda ones that used a separate sender

For example, this is the tach out of the old "High n Mighty." It is all home-built. It is a meter "out of something" perhaps a piece of test equipment. The scale has been hand-lettered. No idea what circuitry was attached to drive it
