Hello everyone! My son and I have just purchased a 1970 Dodge Dart. This will be my son's car but we are working on it together. I have zero experience with these and just about any Chrysler product in general, so be patient with me if I ask dumb questions. I own a 1969 Camaro and a 1954 Ford Country Sedan wagon and love all cars.
I think it was a decent purchase. It's a solid car, that runs and drives. It has the slant 6, automatic with manual brakes, which I'd like to change to power quickly. It has this weird stripe in the front which I'd get rid of but my son says he likes and the wrong stripe in the back. It was originally the NY3 color which I beleive was a cream with a white vinyl top car with tan interior. Some where along it's life some one striped the top and painted the whole thing orange and put the stripes on it. I purchased it from a company that rents cars for movies and TV show.
Well, thank you a head of time for all your help, knowledge and patience.
Matt

Odd stripe, but welcome.
This is a good site for answers to any question you have.

Welcome from Kansas. A 70 Dart is a great way to get into Mopars. Gotta wonder about that stripe. I have NEVER seen that type of stripe around the front???

Nice looking car...that 70 Dart has a 1972 Dart front clip on it, fenders, grille, bumper...may have been in an accident? All the parts fit nice and looks good though...welcome to FABO!

Is that a common swap? I thought that the fenders and the hood were replaced when I look to buy it buy didn't know it was the wrong year. The frame, fender skirts, radiator support and everything else look good and have no damage. Should I be concerned?

You might have a '72 Dart with a '70 VIN on it. If you look closely and suspect that is the fact, read below and follow this advice:

Whatever you do, don't post any pictures of the fender tag or VIN numbers. If you do, you might find some do-gooder here reporting you to the DMV.

Enjoy your nice new toy and keep a low profile. Never post here again with this username.

Thank you for the solid advice- ive had people lose cars for similar situations.
I checked the VIN and data tag and it all matches with the 70 and with all the options this car has.Its just the front clip which I thought had been repaired. I just didnt know the difference between the years.
Everything fits nicely- not knowing and in pictures its tough to tell but other than the grill and side marker style- is there any difference?
Thanks again!
