I’m a square body truck guy venturing out with a 66 Barracuda S. It’s a good driver that I want to keep as original as possible. It has 94,000 miles and from the extensive documentation and date code it appears to have original motor. It’s moving along well but having an issue with power steering conversion kit that prompted me to join. Looking forward to not being a newbie and hope to give something back down the road.

going from square body trucks where you can build one from a catolog to an early abody where there are not many parts available is gonna shock the system a bit..lol

I actually got a couple full size pickup loads of extra parts from the guy I bought it from. He had been collecting parts for years, so I haven’t had a parts issue until this crank pulley conversion.

what kit did ya buy and what issues are ya having?
I got the Borgeson 999069 kit (the second time). It does not come with a crank pulley, nor do they offer one. The pulleys I have ordered have both had a measurement of 1 5/8 inches from the base that attaches to the harmonic balancer to the rim of the first groove. That same dimension is 1 1/8 on my single groove pulley. All the pulleys I have seen advertised as fitting a 66 Barracuda clearly do not have the 1 1/8 measurement although this dimension is typically not provided. Now, I recognize that I may have a different crank pulley than it came with, but I really don’t think this is the case. I need the first groove to start at about 1 3/16 from the harmonic balancer to match up with the alternator and water pump pulleys. Thoughts.

I agree. I don’t have any trailer queens. No offense to those who do, as I understand preserving well restored cars, but that’s not what I do. FYI - my car was originally sold in Canada and I have the owners manual with a lot of the initial hand written service notes. Interesting to see how they documented maintenance back in the day.

where did you get this kit?

did it come with a saginaw pump?

you have 70-up pulley set and a 70-down pulley set. my guess is that the kit wants the 70-up pulleys.. lots involved to change over to 70-up pulleys and brackets...
