Newbie Electrical Questions 72 Demon

Hey Guys
Can anyone let me know how the speaker switch on my dash works?
Also what is this connector for and also the spring loaded latch? I assume it’s for a trunk light?

My '72 Demon speaker switch is rotary and adjusts volume front/rear.

I believe that is the map light switch. the speaker switch would be round and variable, not on or off.
