Hi all,
I am a Mopar lover but not a die hard builder or even close to it. I can wrench some but technical engine stuff makes my head spin.
I have an 89’ W150 with an 84’ 318.
Twenty five years ago I had The Mopar Man, Jim Stowell of Cloquet, rebuild this motor in the 84 w150. I don’t know all the specifics of what parts used but at that time it was a two barrel carbureted motor with a “mild RV cam” and four on the floor. I totaled that pickup and put the motor in this 89’ and then had another Mopar guy convert it to TBI using the 89’ parts. And the factory automatic transmission. Why I didn’t swap the four speed is beyond me.
Anyway, the 89’ brain box has always been confused by this 84’ motor. The 89’ was also a 318.
Two issues I’d like to solve keeping the TBI:
1- idle and low speed (the engine will run rich and what I call “load up”)
2- on start up it does not surge
My apologies if I joined the wrong group to pick brains. If I did please say so and I will make tracks.
Thank you,
BDS
