Yea Nice dog! I have a yellow Lab and they are fun dogs. If you have the patience you can train them to do a lot of cool stuff.

Yea if he wasn't so excited to meet new people I could have shown some cool stuff ha can do!

He's learning slowly, the lady i got him from never did anything with him!

I've been having trouble with him the last couple days trying to bite my niece and nephew,i think he's just trying to play because he does it to me to just nibbles doesn't really bite.
But now they are afraid of him! :(

Yea they like to play rough or at least mine does. If I get him worked up enough he will still nip at me.

It's called mouthing. It's not intentionally a vicious act, but if you let it go uncorrected it could be a problem. Discipline: Plain & simple. Almost ANY dog can be trained. My wife had a BIG problem with her dog when she was a pup with nipping and growling. Amy spent mucho time training and now our (her....) dog is so well behaved people find it impossible to believe there was ever a problem.

If you don't know anyone involved with dog training spend some time researching it on-line instead of all the **** sites....

BTW: What the dog's name? Amy is breaking my ball-joints asking me....

My male Basset does that to my son. Kinda chews on his hands. Were working on him. He's as dumb as a rock but he's young still (the dog not my son)

Bolth my Bassets are good with the baby. He loves them, climbs on them, hugs them and shares his lunch wih them.

The lady that had him had a 3 y.o. that smacked him and pulled on his ears so i was thinking because of that he probably don't like kids.
Hopefully he get used to being around them and stop biting at them. [-o<

It may sound cruel, but get a muzzle and put it on him for 15-20 minutes anytime he starts to bite. Of course after you tell him NO. Dogs are smart, they learn quick!!

My female lab nibbles too. It's not a bite or mouthing, it's really a nibble, she does it when she's trying to kiss you. It's very gentle. I guess it's her way of showing affection cause she only does it to people she's really familiar with. Also give the dog lots of time and praise her for doing GOOD things. Imagine how you'd feel if you were swapped like an old intake.

Apple bitter works pretty good too. Most of the time grabbing their snout and holding their jaw closed and yelling no a few times will do the trick.

Yea labs thrive off of being praised and being rewarded for being good.

my girlfriends pit bull puppy, he is coming up on 8 weeks old, he has a small tendency to mouth, and will get kind of rough if you play with him too much and get him worked up. but im teaching that little sh't that mouth on hand isnt cool. trying to teach him the 'get it/him' command with toys. he starts nipping at fingers and i pull out a stuffed toy and give that to him after i tell him no. then i tell him "get em" as he bites on the toy.

he is a VERY sweet dog though, almost wags himself to death when i come up.
a picture from last week, he IS a lot bigger now... not a really good pic, but his whole body is white, this shows what little markings he has.
