Couple times a year me and a business partner go out to Willow Springs to practice going around corners (road race). It's a real cool open track day type event with a lot of high end cars and most of them are pretty darn fast. Today I was surprised to see this early Dart out playing with us. It's a new build for an upcoming Lemons race. http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/ This guy Tim was out sorting out some bugs in the car. It's a little rough and a low budget build car, but it was really cool to see it out there. Car runs and handles nicely it's basically a junk yard built 318 car.

:burnout:

Yes it is! The old Dart actually seemed to be well accepted. Let see if I can post some more pictures. I'll try and make it mostly Mopar. :D

Zhandfull,

I think I was there that day. What were you and your friend driving?

;D

Alltime

That intake is kinda strange for a road course motor

How does that qualify for LeMons with a full tube front frame and dual quad intake? It's supposed to cost less than $500!!!

Yeah, I know they allow safety upgrade and that would cover the roll bar attachment points up front. Rest of front suspension was just 73+ gear.

The tunnel ram was a little crazy but kind of fit the car theme. Most these cars in LeMons have a theme going on. I think they get extra points for a funny, crazy theme. Tim's theme was to show up and go through tech with an early gasser look by cranking up the torsion bars, some big and little drag drag tires on it maybe even a moon tank on the front of the car. Then find some better wheels and tires overnight and lower the car back down for serious racing effort as seen in my pictures.

Everybody of course pushing the limits of cheating. Not many cars out there for $500 these days. I do seem to recall they can add laps as they see fit to all out effort cars that get out of hand. Be interesting to know how Tim's Dart made out.

Zhandfull,
Good to run into you here! Thanks for the post!
We had a great weekend in Sanoma. We were the first car through tech. No Issues. Lemons Judges liked the tunnel ram.

On track Car ran great. New radiator solved my overheating issues from our day at WSIR. Fuel mileage was good with all the cautions. We finished 2nd in Class B after running several hours 1st in class. We finished 12 over all out of 183 cars. Not bad for the cars debut.

Car is definately compliant with $500 performance limit. We didn't just order up a tunnel ram kit from summit. No bling here.Tunnel ram had been dropped, probably previous owner shipping. TR super cheap as it required welding and resurfacing. Carbs crusty looking but clean inside...again cheap. Got money from the 8 3/4 so this off set a lot of the performance budget. Engine was a junkyard 318 stocker with water staining in 3 cylinders, and slight pitting in one...super cheap. And so on.

Zhandfull,

We are thinking of doing a braket race with cash prize during the lunch break at WSIR, Spring Fling Speed Festival, Mopar Track Day. You could bring your Dart.

Sounds like fun, my Dart is more of a cruiser with a stock 318 but I wouldn't mind beating on it a little. Glad to hear things went good for you, I'm always cheering for the "A" bodies.
