I'm building a car on a very tight budget. The cam I'm going to use will require a hi-stall converter. Since my budget is tight, I'll either be using a cheap aftermarket one, or getting a local shop to make my existing converter into a Hi-stall unit. The engine is most likely going to get a 150 shot. I've read that big dollar performance converters have something called an "Anti balloon plate" for nitrous use. How much of that do you reckon a cheap (Like a boss hogg) or modified factory converter hack before it coughs it's lot?

I was running a big block with a 200 shot on a full throttle switch. I dont recommend it but I ran a hughes street strip converter with a 4000 stall. cost me about 400$

there are some things in life it dont pay to be cheap on .....in any case anti balloon plate unless you have more converters an transmissions than needed ..... take a look in the section exploding torqueflites

I have used many hits and stages on non specific n20 use TC's, and factory TC's.

However with your lack of detail of what you are doing who knows for sure..

More info, Trans will be a 904. Looking at a 2200-2800 range for the converter. Diff gears are 4.3:1, and tyres are 28" slicks. Engine is a 318 with 675 heads, fitted with 1.88, and 1.6 valves.
Weight of the car, at a guess I'd say somwhere around 1400kgs. (I wont know till it's built, and I can weigh it. lol)

Give Turbo Action torque converters a call.They make a nice 11 inch 2600-2800 904 converter .200-250 costwise.Best price was mancini racing in the day.Had one in a 68 dart,go 2600 2700 with 3.55s and a solid cam 318.Didnt spray it, but the 727 was/is bulletproof .Give em a call.Just .02 worth,good luck.

What power is the motor making, what cam, where is the power? ?

As is what i read, i would leave a factory stall and leave on the button at 200

Motor isn't built yet.
Cam has 110 LCA. And a 106' lobe centerline. As well as 230/236@50. With just a whisker shy of 500 lift. Advertised range is 1800-6000.
