got a 67 318 valiant and there is no spark going to my coil. im getting power to the (+) side but when i turn it over, nothing no power comes out of the coil.

You have stock points or some electronic conversion?

Points? See if they are opening / closing. Many ways to do this, put a test lamp on the coil -- and crank engine, lamp should blink. Take off cap, bump engine 'til points closed, then manually open with a screwdriver, see if they spark.

Most common problem is points/ condenser.

Take the distributor cap off and see if the rotor even turns when you crank the engine.
If it does then go further with the points and coil.
If it does not turn, then look to timing chain and distributor drive gear.
If it has a way old timing gear setup, it could have even done whats called "jumped time".
This when the timing chain has gotten so loose that it jumped over a tooth or more on the chain sprockets and there ya go. (out of timing)

yes it is stock points.

Also it's really common on old cars that the points are not opening due to the material that contacts the cam lobes in the distributor has actually worn down so much the points do not open anymore, so starting where 67Dart273 suggested may be best at this point.

Ditto above, but suggest changing to electronic ignition before wasting too much time and gas fiddling with points.

You can adapt your existing distributor fairly cheap using a Pertronix or Crane Cams XR700. The former is all contained under the cap w/ no exteral boxes. If you change the whole distributor, I found a new self-contained electronic one for small block for $40. Changing to the later Mopar factory electronic ignition is popular. Check ebay for all, plus FABO for later.

X2 on the electronic,,,ignition...been caught/ stranded too many times by bad points and bad condensers....but if you MOPAR ignition MAKE certain you have a spare ballast resistor in the glove box
