I know I'm right....
in CA, you cant even transfer a title if it wont pass smog, I kid you not. I asked a smog tech about selling my beater truck as a "farm truck, wont pass smog" and he said no way in CA, scrap it or sell it out of state. I registered my 65 with a bill of sale and the pink (title) but it was out of the system for so long they registered it as a 1993 Barracuda. I questioned that as my insurance wouldn't cover a 'non-existant" model and the DMV sent me a new title with the correct year on it.
