Hi,I've got a Comp. Cams XE268 cam with a set of hydraulic lifters (#822) for my 340.
I'm not so sure that I want to use the c.c. lifters after all ;too many complaints about them being NOISY (probably related to the way they are designed).
Anyway ,What about using this XE268 with a set non -comp cams hydraulic lifters? Has anybody tried it? Any luck?
I''ll appreciate your replies.

COMP CAM lifter noise?I have never had any trouble with lifter noise.ALL I use anymore is COMP CAMS and lifters.

I got a lifter noise but they are Mopar Performance, I've heard quite a bit about people having lifter noise from MPP. Nothing about Comp cams.

I`ve read that there`s only a couple companies that make all the lifters no matter what name they put on them. If that`s the case you might end up with the same lifter even if you use another brand.

When I installed my Mopar Performance cam , the lifters were noisy. I put in Comp Cams lifters and they are quiet.

A couple yrs. back Comp Cams did have problems with lifters due to a strike at the vendor they usually got them from. To keep supplying people with cams they subsituted Chinese lifters that were pure junk. I got 2 bad sets myself and a buddy got a bad set. My cam didn't go flat. Rather the lifters were so sloppy inside they wouldn't hold pressure. I believe that only happened for about 3 months (the ammount of time the vendor was on strike) and everything's ok now.

Racer Brown told me the same thing Longone said that their are only a couple companies in the US making lifters.

I have run a couple of the comp xe cams and they seem to be a little more noisy because of the aggressive profile of the lobe, not a lifter issue. the lunati voodoo cams run less of a ramp on the closing side of the lobes to help with this among other things. i went and ordered the lunati cam and lifters and took one apart along with one of my comp ones and they were exactly the same. Im curious if those rhodes lifters are the same lifter bodies with different internals?
