Okay - so how do you quickly tell what rear size the car has on it?

Just measure. SBP is 4 inch, BBP is 4.5 inch.

7 1/4 came in both big and small bolt
8 1/4 was only big bolt
8 3/4 A-body only small bolt B,C,E-body were big bolt

also if your matching front and rear bolt pattern

drum brakes and early style kelsey hayes 4 piston disk brakes are small bolt pattern

late style single piston disk brakes are big bolt pattern
