Not so much a clone Hemi Dart

Gear change done, went from a 4.56 to a 4.10. What a *****, probably my lack of rearend experience. It’s quiet going down the road though so I’ll call it a win. Also been fighting distribution on the intake. Seems to puddle. Went down to a 1.56 Venturi from a 1.610. We will see if that helps. If I can work in a wheel alignment and fresh tires I may take it to Norwalk in sept. I also have a little interview in the video just after the 7 min mark!

Well it turned out to be a good weekend. Got to make 3 time trial hits Thursday. Car started off in the 9.90’s, so I started leaning the carbs. By Saturday it was in the 9.80’s in the heat and humidity pretty sure it would have went 9.70’s Sunday (better air) but I was told I couldn’t dial faster than 10.0 due to the lack of enough roll cage. No time trial Sunday. Brakes absolutely suck. I knew it needed a brake uograde but decided to run it anyway. I could barely make the return road on a full pass. Also I had to leave off idle, both Friday and Saturday eliminations I went out first round when I tried to bring the car up off idle a little and it learched deep into the lights and causing me to red light. By Sunday I was at peace with the fact we were going to leave dead off idle. Made it all the way to the finals in hemi super stock dialing 10.0. Pretty cool consisting my car was the only one I seen in the class that had a license plate and was an actual street car. I think there’s more left. I would like to see some more mph out of it and some better 60’s as well. Best 60ft was 1.38 after tweaking on the shocks and bars a little. Looks like it was almost driving over the tire. The big hemi performed flawlessly, cooling and charging system proved up to the task of hot lapping with ease.

This was a good pass, too bad I had to scrub it down to a 10.0…

I haven’t really accomplished anything on my cars so far this winter. I started the kid into quarter midget racing last summer and that is kind of taking over. I just re-paneled his cars with some colored aluminum and I’m currently building some fresh engines.

Don’t feel bad, my Dart hasn’t been touched since September till actually today. Months..
Nice Strange brakes right there. I have Wilwoods all the way around on my Dart. The B body got Strange on the rear last winter. The Strange were the easiest to install, not even shim washers.
I lost a couple mufflers today though. The bullets behind the dana came off. Maybe a tad louder now.

Yep, that’ll turn up the volume! For the little cars like this are used who cares though.. nothing comfortable about a hemi A body.. lol

Looking forward to putting the brakes on, the evolutions seem to be pretty popular

Absolutely beautiful job congrats and well done. Question what stall is your converter when I was racing mine I had a 9" 5000 stall B&M and one thing I was advised to do strenuously was to make sure the engine would idle clean at 1800-1850 rpm on the linelock so when launched it would bump the stall to 5200 lift the front end and gone, if hooked up good you could feel the blood pull down from behind your eyes.
On your headers doesn't anyone make the original style that had removable tube so you take them in and out easy by pieces if they weren't that way you would never get them in or out easy or quick for pit work.
