Not to bad for sitting out four weeks

-
Well I ran another 6.07 on a 6.07 and lost. I almost flinched which caused me to hesitate for my worst light that I can ever remember. I changed my shirt three times today so I was hot, tired and just worn out. I tried to get my son to drive but he wouldn’t. We go again at 9am.

Tuff out there, competition is stiff, good luck tomorrow.

Well we were the first group called to the lanes again today so I got up and got the car unloaded and ready, then I worked on getting my head right. For some reason on these long three race weekends I don’t know if my head is starting to think about the four hour drive home or what but i average a .030 light first round on Sundays which is always a day I won’t buy back. Do I picked up the practice tree to hit a few a bammmm .030 light. So I hit a few minutes and settled in where I should be. First round race.

Congrats John. Way to take the win.

Well first round came and I parked in the lanes really wrong today. Nasty Nick Hastings is lined up with me. This guy has won more money than almost anyone I know. But guess who won.

Well Mr Nick Hastings bought back in the round I beat him and road both entries into late rounds till he lost one. On the second entry he won the 20,000.00 event yesterday.

Well not the way I wanted to lose. I thought I felt the car spin and we had a 8-10 mph headwind today. Well I went up for second round and really didn’t feel good putting a 6.10 on the window but I had to get there. Well it hooked then either immediately spun bad of my transmission is toast. Then I got stupid up top not wanting to run under and played top end games. I’ll get into the rest of the story tomorrow. Home safe but tired.

Tuff way to go home, but home safely. Better luck next time.

My cousin who I haven’t seen in years messaged me on Facebook that he would like to come to the Ace Race. He had taken his girlfriend on a week long trip to different destinations not telling his girlfriend where the next stop was. Kinda neat and she really enjoyed it. I’d never met her so I had my chance a 8:30 Saturday morning. I tried to talk him into going to a race like night of fire of something with a show but he insisted. I like Dragway 42 but it’s a hard track to entertain friends, especially at a 20,000.00 race weekend. Well they did their thing all day and had a great time. He plays bass guitar so he introduced himself to my friend Lou Greco from the band Trainwreck. They left after 11:30 Pm on their way their next stop. A few pictures he took.

Well since I’m sitting out this weekends three 15000.00 races at Keystone because of feel like 100 degree temps and a chance of rain tomorrow I finally checked my RacePak readings. After running 6.07 all weekend it slowed to a 6.12 Sunday first round and a touch slower the second round. I thought either spinning bad or transmission issues. Well the RacePak looked good but here’s the readout before my battery went bad Friday night. The dip (green) shows it down to 11.6 volts till I floored the car.

The RacePak is a nice piece of equipment to have on board. Any ideas why it slowed, heat related ?

Felt like it spun real bad. Guys said the right lane was bad. Probably should hook up a grid I have in my small tire car and take away some of the hit. New tires going on and honestly it does need rear shocks. They are probably 20 years old.

New slicks always feel good, after a couple of runs stick like glue.

What did the 60 foot show on the slip?

Bad on Sunday

Friday
1.3225
1.3303
1.3263
Saturday
1.3245
1.3246
1.3249
Sunday
1.3282
1.3580

Remarkably consistent except for that last pass.
Sure looks you are right. Accounts pretty much exactly for the number you saw
Double the 60 foot difference is what I usually seem to see, but you are a good bit faster.
So 6 numbers +- total with the 60’ 3 off

I had to look at my slips again to make sure but Friday we had a big tailwind. (8-10 mph) Saturday normal day then Sunday we picked up a so so head wind (6 mph). I took the wind numbers from my phone weather app. Wind changes quickly at this track. Gotta keep an eye on the flags. One got ripped off in Thursday night storm.
