What is the technical name for the oil plug on the side of the lifter. The valve train setup is a crane. It is 7/16" diameter. Any help would be much apprecciated.

"On the side of the lifter"?
You mean inside the block, towards the ditstributor gear or the two at the front under the cam retaining plate? in both cases they are just lifter galley oil plugs.

No idea on the P/N , but the Dorman cabinet at my local parts store has all different sizes of plugs. What you need will be a C.H. larger in diameter than the hole in the end of the shaft.
