This is not my video, but I just came across it and it seemed like a pretty good visual representation of what all needs to be done and a good summary of the giant thread started by guitar way back when.

Any lifter application that needs pressurized oiling, like hydraulic lifters, should not block the oil to the lifters. If the oiling is blocked off to the lifters by tubing or lifter bore bushings, you can drill holes to feed the lifters enough oil to feed applications like hydraulic lifters, EDM solid lifters, pressure fed lifter roller bearings and pushrod oiling applications.

While there are other pros and cons to blocking the oil to the lifters, the cost and benefits for a performance street hydraulic flat tappet engine are not warranted in my opinion.

It's a old, very outdated way to do things. Better than nothing in 1970, but now these blocks are 50 years old and very worn. That method does nothing to correct the size of the bores, OR the location relative to the camshaft. Also grinding in your oil pump without removing the bypass is a major no-no. And lastly, adding a hard line does absolutely nothing but create a nice place for a cracked line and a oil leak internally, that you wont know about until you cook the engine. Just be aware before deciding to do this. The CORRECT way is to have the lifter bores bushed. In modern cnc machines, its extremely accurate, and not that expensive, especially when your trying to build a "7500 rpm" smallblock

i have never done any oil mods. my junk sees 7400 rpm and lives, going on 3 years now. i run a SFT.

It's probably more of a necessity for endurance applications.

please share the your video. i'm interested in watching it.

I will as soon as my new stuff shows up.

SPECIAL THANKS to @318willrun for helping me get my frustrating video issues out of the way.

If everything shows up by Wednesday I can make a video then or Thursday and post it Friday.

That’s the goal. But first up I need to test Rustyratrods ignition. I’ll make a video he can post to his channel.

Then I’m off like a herd of turtles.
