Oil pan install question

Hi, I'm putting a new oil pan on my 73 - 340. Just got it back from the machine shop. The seal on the rear of the pan didn't seat correctly. So im doing it over. Do these tabs on the rear stay or get cut off so the gasket and seal sit flush with the block?

Trim them off so the pan can sit flush. I usually put a dab of sealant in the corners before I install the oil pan. 65

Thanks ply65. I should have known better than to leave them on the first time.
