Oil Pressure problem at idle

-
You have loose tolerances in the motor/pump, so a heavier viscosity was the bandaid.

no magic, and why not run a 20w50?

Unless it get 15* outside where you live, you have to lil viscosity, or overkill in the thin oil dept.

All this thin oil came out for better gas mileage and emissions. Looser clearances are better than too tight. Very loose will throw more oil on the pistons and might cause the motor to burn oil so you can't go too far but I rather have .003 bearing clearance than .0015

Old School Guys have a saying "Build them loose, they'll take the revs"

thats what I was always told a loose motor will out last a tite one. I know I have nevre had any trouble with them that way.And I always run strate 40 or 50wt........Artie

Any chance you missed the plug at the rear of the oil galley (I call it the plug inside the plug) at the back of the motor?
Is that the plug you get from down the distributor If you leave that out during a rebuild you will have low oil pressure at idle.
