I have put in the oil pump/ gear drive, but it doesn't seat completely on the bushing in the block, there is about a 1/32 nd gap. Someone said that the bushing should be deburred , which I can't do since the engine is already in. Does anyone have insite on this or a trick to seat the shaft, or is this clearance typical?

yea, we've rotated the crank. and the alignment dots don't match exactly when the drive finally sets

Are you sure the bushing is seated all of the way?

Will your distributor seat all of the way?

The bushing gets driven into the block, then should be burnished to clearance the inside diameter properly. There is a special tool for this. It doesnt get deburred per se. Does it turn freely when it's in as far as it can go? You could shorten the drive very slowly and carefully by grinding it. The hex end is heat treated, so you have to go very slowly and not let it get hot. but I've never seen or ehard of one being too tall... I'm more inclined to say you have a problem.
