I replaced my very tired 318 with a fresh 360 over the winter same electronics - intake - carb etc and the 360 just wouldn't start and run quite right and would diesel upon digging into it I found the ignition 1 and 2 (start-run) was crossed corrected worked better but still not quite there decided to take off the Edelbrock carb and try another one I read the instructions (men never do that) I found when using the Eddy carb with and Eddy intake needed a metal plate and two gaskets or it would have a vacuum leak got one and installed everything works great now with no dieseling (probably caused by the vacuum leak and plugs getting hot from the ignition being crossed - too much juice) just goes to show that the 318 would run good no matter what
