Ok so I put the slinger on in front of the crank gear like the book shows both ways and it is getting chewed up by th cover or the gear. Does this need to be in? Is it compatable with the double tooth gear? Lastly does it go between the block and gear instead? Woe is me ....

ok so the lip if i remember should go twords the timing cover, between the cover and chain...

im using the stock on with my JP double roller with no issues...

I goes between the crank gear and the balancer....inside the cover.... with the concave side toward the balancer. It worked fine with the old timing set and not the new set? Sounds like a bad set, bent slinger, or installation error. If you install it without the slinger, you may get a leak at the front seal.

After walking away for a while I came back and noticed the chain was slightly angled toward the cover so I knocked the crank gear in some more reinstalled things and no noise. I used a vice and tapped the rim back into shape but just in case Im going to replace it anyway. Thanks for the help.
