One of my highschool teachers got arrested

I think child molesters are the worst scum and I think anyone who abuses a child should suffer a horrible death. I doubt there is anyone on here who would 100% agree with that. That being said, I am starting to see a disturbing trend in this country when it comes to the "zero tolerance" mentality of the courts when it comes to sex offenders. The sex offender registry is a great tool. I think parents should know if their new neighbor is a child molester and as a woman, I would want to know if my neighbor is a rapist, but it has become a scarlet letter for a lot of people who don't pose any threat to society.
For example, http://edition.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/04/07/sexting.busts/index.html
This kid is 18 and has been labeled as a sex offender for texting a nude picture of his 16 year old girlfriend. Can you honestly say that should be considered child pornography?
I hear more and more, stories of twenty-something guys who are getting arrested for having sex with a minor after hooking up with someone they met at a bar. That is wrong!! If she looks 21, is in an adults only establishment, and she is not forced the guy shouldn't be considered a criminal
Sorry about the rant, but the more I see, the more I realize that there needs to be a change in how we define what a sex offender is. My boyfriend is significantly younger than I am, he's 24 and I'm 36 and it's completely legal, but when an 18 year old guy dates a 15 year old girl we are ready to throw the guy in jail and for the rest of his life he is branded as a child molester... That's ridiculous!

BTW...... thats freakin hilarious!!!!! LMAO!!!!

Glad they caught this sick ****! The one time I almost got on a Jury, was for a child molester. The defense attorney didn't like my attitude, and dismissed me. I wanted to hang the *******. Children need to be able to trust adults.
